The past few weeks has impacted the world in a massive way. We are experiencing something our generation has never before. Experiencing what it’s like to live through a global pandemic has been an eye opener for everyone. Its human condition to adopt a comfortable routine that fits your daily life.  You adapt to your surroundings whether that be work, family or relationships. However, the current global crisis has forced us to adapt yet again to the environment. As a result, the task I’ve been set, my Better Lives project “Developing a character”, has become more complex to achieve. This means sustainability will be developing in ways it hasn’t before. There will be a lot more trial and errors with the public trying to create their own makeup and skincare as they’re usual products could be out of stock or their budget could have changed. Although this will widen the knowledge and could interest people to be more informed on the ingredients, what it takes to create something and what it does. Also, we will appreciate and find new skills for the makeup we already have as it will be harder to buy new products. A lot of people prefer to see and feel makeup in real life so we will be limited to what we already have. It is so easy to have a collection of something and forget about some pieces, therefore this will widen our interests and use up as much as we have. For example, we could have twenty different types of moisturisers; but do we really need all those twenty or are we adding to the waste in the world and being thoughtless. Secondly there will be a massive shift of products being available online when they haven’t been before and possibly some virtual online filters to try the colours available on before you buy. Advertising will increase as there would have been a loss in sales therefore, they would want to engage their viewers. New collections won’t be as frequent as it won’t be as easy and possible to come together and plan new collections. I will feel more prepared for the future if anything else similar happens. Products will increase in prices therefore I will be making the most of my makeup kit instead of buying new products constantly similar to fast fashion. I will focus on more digital work such as being up to date with my own freelance platforms and increasing engagement. I will make sure I am being eco-friendly. Overall, we naturally will have developed new characteristics and thoughts from experience with this and will be more aware of everything around us and open to new findings.
